In packing for a hiking trip, I'm one of the few who can do without a hiking pole. I don't believe that it's a must-have after all. Come on, it's not like I'm a 70-year old grandpa! I can very well balance myself which I see as a part of the challenge. My reason for hiking is to experience the wilds, and how can I enjoy the wilds if I'm bringing the comfort from civilization?!
If I am to get one, I won't spend a fortune for those expensive models. Besides, there are plenty of alternative poles to use. You could be resourceful yourself. The main purpose of poles is that it divides energy while it props you up. But it only adds up to your load and keeps your hand full. How would you look at your map and bring other packs if your hand is busy with flailing poles?
There are also times when poles may get in your way. It doesn't always work, not for all plain regions. And without a good technique and coordination, it may do harm than good. Hiking poles are often overrated. I'd rather see to it that I have all the necessary package in my bag to survive my feat than to have a lousy hiking ornament.

Just last month, I went to a fancy hiking store downtown to search for good hiking poles (trekking poles or walking sticks). I tried all kinds of poles available, and I got interested with Black Diamond Terra Carbon-Fiber (CF) trekking poles. I was not wrong; these poles are perfect for any climbing or walking adventure. They are very light, and provide a good balance to my body. They are easy to maneuver, too. Its CF mid-part as well as its flexi tips are very durable and powerful. They provide more than enough functionality both on-trail and off-trail.
Actually, I have used numerous hiking poles, and these trekking poles are perfect for me. These poles match my other hiking equipment. They are easy to close and keep when I need to use both of my hands. There are many advantages that hiking poles give. They reduce pains in your knees, increase climbing capacity, and increase the endurance of the person to the activity. However, you don't need to buy expensive hiking poles if you are first-time hiker. You have to identify your needs first before you visit a fancy store to get a set of hiking poles.

It's important to bring your hiking poles if you're in a long walk. I always do to support my weight when walking on rocky terrains. I enjoy the long trail with my pair of hiking poles. They have anti-shock systems that reduce the shock and stress on my knees and ankles. There are several types and brands of hiking poles in the market. And each has special features to match the needs of hikers. When I decided to buy my hiking staff, I considered the price, materials used, and the type of grip.
After my long search for the best hiking poles, I found the Leki Canyon Trekking Poles perfect for my needs. Each pole is light to carry, and brings no pressure on my hand. The poles have anti-shock and stable features which support my joints. They are very comfortable to use; you can walk or climb with less pressure. If you're considering to get a pair, I think, the Leki Canyon Trekking Poles are also the suitable poles for you. They are affordable and have wonderful designs, too. I can't ask for more when it comes to hiking poles. Canyons have everything.

If you are packing your hiking gear, don't forget to pull your hiking staff. There are many uses of the hiking pole, and one of which is to lessen the stress of your joints when walking on the long trail. There are many hiking poles in hiking gear stores, and if you plan to buy one, I suggest you choose the Anti-shock Hiking Pole with Compass and Thermometer from Kaito.
This is also known as HP1. It is designed with strong but light to carry aluminum. It has a spring-loaded feature for better absorption of shock, as well as to lessen stress in the joints. It also helps to reduce the stress in ligaments and muscles when doing the long and strenuous walk. This pole comes with an easy-lock telescoping feature that maximizes productivity with less fatigue and discomfort through EVA foam grip and solid plastic knob which covers the built-in camera mount. This stick is suitable to any hiker. A pair of watch-band mini-compass as well as thermometer are included on its wrist strap. These and other useful features were built for this innovative hiking stick.

Hiking brings a lot of fun. You can see different wonderful views, bond with friends, and increase the energy of your body. Hence, hiking gears are important to support your needs on your journey. But, among the staff you bring, do you consider the trekking pole a requirement?
If you plan to buy one, try to check the Bozeman Mountain Works Stix Xls trekking pole. This staff is made of high-strength carbon fiber, and it weighs 2.7 ounces. It's too light to carry along with your other hiking equipment. Yet, some don't care if they use a bamboo stick as a trekking pole, because they usually lose their staff on their way home.
The trekking pole can keep your body balanced while on trek. It reduces the impact of activity to the joints of your knees and your leg muscles. With the support of your hands, your heart rate is reduced because the trekking stick can make your feel relaxed, improve your breathing, and can help to rest your body. It can be used for defenses from wild animals, too.

The use of hiking poles is essential, especially if you are hurt, but still would like very much to be part of the hiking team expedition. Telescoping poles can be used for this purpose.
A telescoping stick is the suggested kind of pole for rough terrains because this equipment usually has attached springs that can take the pressure from your legs. Telescoping poles can also be folded up or attached to your bag with straps in case it is necessary to hold on to the rock or ground with your hands.

At first, I thought carrying around a hiking pole would be too much of a hassle, now, I know how important it is. It helps you balance yourself, on rocky trails, crossing rivers or streams, and it also supports you when you're carrying heavy baggages. The hiking poles also helps when you need to stabilize yourself, let's say from falling or tripping over, you gain support and steadiness from the pole. And most importantly, you can rest your own weight on the pole. It would lessen the stress on your legs, arms, shoulders and back.
