A child’s safety is always a parent’s primary concern while travelling as a family. Before going on that camping trip, talk to your children about the safety they need to practice. Guide them through the campsite’s safety rules and what dangers that lie ahead of them. They should understand the importance of these rules before you leave.
Camping essentials
Make sure that your camp site has enough child-proof and child-friendly items. Choose a camping site with a curfew period, playground areas, bathroom facilities, and electric or water sources. Don’t forget to bring bandages, sun block, pain medication, antibacterial liquid, allergy medication, cold or flu medicine, and antibiotic cream for critical cuts or burns.
Safety camping tips for kids
Before letting your kids explore and play around, clear the area of any sharp objects or large plants they could trip over. During long hikes, always have a kid between two adults to ensure they do not get lost. Always keep them away from any high points like ledges, drop-offs, and deep water bodies.
First-aid tips for kids when camping
Visit your kids’ doctor before the camping trip. This way you can note any plants they could possibly be allergic to. Keep the first aid kit by your side wherever you go and never leave your child alone.

Since you are planning a hiking adventure, preparing for your hiking backpack must be your priority. There are many hiking gear and stuff that you should bring during your trip. And if you will stay overnight in the camp or on the mountain, you should bring a tent. There are several types of hiking tents. And one of these is the wedge tent. It is the most preferred shelter for most hikers and armies for several years now.
Actually, whenever we encounter the word "tent", the first picture that comes into our mind is the wedge tent, or A-Frame tent. This A-style tent has been used for many outdoor activities because it can be easily set-up and can accommodate at least 2 or more people (depending on the size). It is better to use a tent with a zipper to enclose the tent for privacy in the midst of the open space, and in the middle of the night. And, if you are choosing a tent, pick the one that can withstand the hardest weather condition that you may encounter; like a four-season tent. You should also consider the capacity ratings of the manufacturer.

It's time for you to prepare your things for the much-awaited hiking adventure in Alaska. There are so many staff to put into your bag, but you must not forget your sleeping bag. Although the whole day will make you sweaty, you still have to rest your body on a comfortable sleeping pad.
It is important to get a sleeping bag that will let you fall asleep in the middle of the night at the heart of the forest. There are hundreds of them in the web, so you have a variety of choices. But in choosing the best bag for you, you have to know the temperature range of your sleeping bag. In Alaska, the acceptable range of bags is between 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. You can choose a zip-out bag to give you either warm nights during winter times or ventilation during warm nights.
In addition, choose a bag that is light to carry, and not too bulky when folded. Inflatable bags/pads are better and has lesser weight. But the rule of thumb, always consider the coldest condition you might experience.

Hiking has dramatically become a great form of exercise in order to maintain a strong healthy body. In addition, it is also a popular kind of active sport. More and more people have resorted to hiking for both reasons.
But, hiking is not at all a very simple activity. It does not require only physical stamina, but also all other essential factors that must be taken into consideration in order to realize your objectives. There are certain easy-to-follow hiking rules and trail etiquettes that you must take into account.
First, you must be aware of you own abilities physically, mentally, and technically. Make sure you are well-informed when it comes to the trails that you are going to take, the weather condition, and the hiking condition as well. Keep a hiking map with you and have it properly checked by local authorities. Do not hike alone because it is risky; chances are, you will perish alone and it sounds so unfortunate. As much as possible engage in a group hike, so that when an untoward event takes place, you have somebody to help you out. Be aware of environmental protection, do not litter and observe proper hygiene. See to it that you are with the group at all times. These and so much more are the tips that you must follow in order to make your hiking experience truly satisfying and delighting.

Hiking doesn't only concentrate on walking or climbing up trails; hiking has rules. Rules on safety, in the wilderness, on camp sites, on hiking groups, and it has etiquette. Hiking usually ends up in camp sites at night when hikers need to rest for the next day's hike, so there are certain rules to follow on the tent sites. Hikers shouldn't dig holes in the soil for the tents.
Using paper-based products are better than plastic, and of course, the hikers shouldn't use soap or any chemical compound while washing by lakes or rivers, because there are still fish living there, you know! The tranquil wildlife shouldn't be affected by the hikers' presence. Hiking in the mountains doesn't mean that the hikers already own the wildlife, so, best we take care of it!

For a family hiking trip, you might think that it's a great letdown when it starts to rain in the middle of your hiking trip, but hey, it's not. Teach your kids to enjoy the rain, rather than head back or mope on it.
The important thing is that all of you are wearing the right waterproof hiking gear. The raincoats, the hoodies, the ponchos or the rain slickers, the hiking boots, and water-proof pants. The rain is actually a refreshing experience after that long trail you've hiked. It's like a shower break for your happy hiking family. It's a team sport, enjoy each other's company while dancing in the rain!

Hiking makes you one with Mother Nature, don't you just love the feeling of fresh air in your lungs, and the thrill and excitement of climbing up the mountains? And it's a good exercise, it's an extraordinary achievement knowing you have reached and conquered something so high. Naturally, you would want the kids to experience the same rush of excitement, well, that's no problem at all! Because there are gears for kids who like to go hiking. I think the most useful is the child carrier, that is, if you're carrying a baby, but basically everything's covered from base jackets, to pants, backpacks, boots and sleeping bags, you name it, and it's all in the market. So you can now share your hiking trips with the kids.
